How to get a top-rated hotel in NYC Times Square for $120 a night all-in.

As you may know, hotels in Manhattan can be pretty expensive. Well, there is an easy way around this. All you need is an Intercontinental Hotels (Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Staybridge Suites, Indigo, etc.) Priority Club Membership with 5,000 points in it. If you don't have 5,000 points, this can be easily bought or traded online.

OK, so you have you 5K points. There is a hotel in NYC, the Staybridge Suites Times Square, that is available for 20,000 points a night.  This is a top-rated long stay hotel (currently #15 on TripAdvisor) that can go for $400 a night.

Here are the dates I was looking for:

And here is the availability on points:

How do I get 20,000 points for a night given I have 5,000?  Well, you buy them :).  Priority Club offers a Points + Cash reward.  First you find a hotel that has a 15,000 point reward, say this one:

You book this hotel, paying $60. This will deposit 10,000 points into your account, which will immediately be deducted to book this room (along with your initial 5,000 points). You then cancel the room, and the 15,000 points will be deposited into your account. Repeat as needed. Note, you can do the last purchase directly for the hotel you want, as long as you keep your original 5,000 points in your account (for next time 😉 )
